Quality Control for Breweries

Quick Links

Consistent brews, accurate recipes, and long, stable shelf lives are the goals of any brewery’s quality control program. From ABV to Diastaticus to dissolved oxygen testing, we are here to supplement your in-house quality control program with the data and information you need.

We recognize the importance of speed, so our turnaround time is fast; you can react to the data, and keep your processes moving forward without delay.

Schedule an on-site visit to reduce your packaging line’s dissolved oxygen pick up, order bundled packages for added discounts, or pick and choose tests a la carte to get exactly what you need when you need it. However you choose to work with us, we are here to support you!

Dissolved Oxygen Testing

Dissolved oxygen has the biggest impact on product age and shelf stability. The less there is at packaging, the longer the shelf-life will be. For the highest accuracy, we only measure from packages pulled directly from the packaging line and from the tank which is being packaged that day. Oxygen introduced at packaging is quick to bind and must be measured before it does so to prevent false low readings.

We start by checking the tank to make sure the product being packaged is ready to go. Then we check each fill head for consistency and accuracy and work with the packaging line operator to make oxygen-pickup reducing adjustments. With a few tweaks, we can make significant improvements to dissolved oxygen levels and add months to the product’s shelf-life.

How it Works

  • We schedule an on-site visit for a day you are packaging
  • Identify oxygen ingress between the tank and packaging line
  • Gauge oxygen pick-up and carbonation loss from the packaging line
  • Assess each fill head for dissolved oxygen, carbonation, and fill consistency
  • Make suggestions for real-time line adjustments
  • Repeat checks and adjustments until data meets satisfactory levels

All data collected will be compiled into a report sent within 24 hours of our visit. Of course, none of it will be new to you as we will be sharing the data with you as we collect it. We will also talk with you about other changes that can be made for the next packaging round such as, brite tank purging, adjusting carbonation levels, cooler or warmer packaging temperature, and more!

Additional testing can be performed back at the lab on the finished package for consistency and tracking purposes. These analyses might include alcohol content, calories, carbohydrates, protein, and microbial stability.
